Hot Topic / Cold Turkey
Apparently merch industry nobodys Chris Siglin & Chris Cornell have combined forces and did an interesting direct licensing deal with Hot Topic for their bands. More details as we get them.

Back in the days when bands recorded on 2″ tape, merchandise companies had warehouses and sales forces and as a result ran their companies like, well, real companies. That’s not to say that the merch world was a utopia; you had x-hippies jetting around in lear jets doing tons of blow while trying to justify a gazillion dollar advance to some 3rd rate hair metal band who started a tour with 6 trucks and 4 buses but after 8 people showed up at The Pepsi Arena in Albany they scaled it back (way back). That is lame now and was lame then. But I dare say those guys had balls. These days all you need is a sidekick, a friend that can make that 4 color manual press turn fast enough to print 48 shirts in an afternoon, and a scam to get into your local warped tour date, and your merchandise company is open for business. Sad.
Am I cynical? Maybe. But I know a few guys out there that are trying really hard to keep this business both Customer and Artist friendly. You guys are my guys.
